#ThrowbackThursday: Miss Freetown USA and Tiny Miss Freetown USA at the Junior Miss Sierra Leone USA Pageant

Hello world!!!

Hope all is well with you and yours. I'm doing well, thanks be to God! While I was Miss Freetown USA, I served as a volunteer at the Junior Miss Sierra Leone USA 2012 Pageant (candidates competed for the titles of Precious Miss, Tiny Miss, Little Miss, Junior Miss, Pre-Teen Miss, and Teen Miss).

I'm pictured here with the beautiful and sweet, Miss Paris. She was Miss Freetown in her division (Tiny Miss), and did an excellent job in all segments throughout the event. I remember watching her on stage during the Afrikana segment of the show dressed in raffia; green, white, and blue beads; she also came with props (calabash, cotton tree-shaped fan, coconut). While explaining the symbol of all her props, one of my favorite lines was when she held up the coconut and said "dis na kokonat, di wata swiiiiiit"

Before is a photo of me in 2011 at the Salone at 50 Independence Award Show with Idris Elba (Hollywood actor and DJ) and Zain Sesay-Harrell (Nurse and Owner of Miss Sierra Leone New York Pageant).

Fun Fact: Idris has a Sierra Leonean father and a Ghanaian mother; they met in West Africa before moving to East London.

#ThrowbackThursday - Miss Sierra Leone USA is a Murraydeen Graduate

Hello world!!!

Hope you and yours had a wonderful time during the Holidays. I had a great time and was surrounded by my loved ones, thanks be to God. Happy New Year and I pray that 2013 will be a year of success, love, and progress for all of us. Remember to reach for excellence and nothing less. Now, back to the subject of this post: #throwbackthursday

This little light of Murray Deen, I'm going to let it shine...LET IT SHINE ALL THE TIME!!! 

I am a PROUD alumna of THE Murraydeen Preparatory School. Red is my favorite color (not just because my name is Ruby), so I loved being part of Nelson Williams House. Hurray for Nelson!!! Marching during Thanksgiving, receiving lots of prizes at Prizegiving, and being Red House's representative for "late for school" at Sports were some of my favorite memories at this school. Shoutouts to Mrs. Grace Williams, Mrs. Letitia Harding, Mrs. Christiana Scott, Mr. Abass Kamara (my lesson teacher in class 6), Mrs. Acelia Smith, Mr. Younghai, Mr. Clarke, and Mr. Jonathan Bundu (my favorite drama teacher)!!!

#ThrowBackThursday - Miss Sierra Leone USA in Life and Times of Madam Yoko

Last year during the final show of The Life and Times of Madam Yoko: Let Me Die Alone done by members of Sierra Theatre Productions and directed by David Vandy. I played the role of Musu, one of Mammy Yoko's maids. I had such a great time with the cast and I even got to learn and speak Mende for some of my lines!!!
