Miss Sierra Leone USA 2013 Homecoming - Week 1 (Part V)

Hello world!!!

Hope you and yours are doing well. My summer has been off to a great start, thanks to the Almighty. As promised, I'll be writing detailed blogs about my adventures during my recent Homecoming Trip to Salone as Miss Sierra Leone USA; read my preview blog post. On Friday (May 3rd) night, I was featured on We Yus show and among a great panel. Catch up on where I spent the morning and afternoon in Part III and Part IV.

This episode of Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation's (SLBC) We Yus Show was hosted by Mr. Daniel Moseray (SLBC Executive and Creator of Wan Pot). Since this was my second appearance and live show on SLBC, I felt more relaxed than I was on Lunch Time Break. The language spoken during the show is strictly krio, so viewers got to hear their Miss Salone America speak krio on national television too! During the show, I talked about my platforms as Miss Sierra Leone USA which are advocating for SHERO, and advocating for the recruitment and retention of girls and women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields; the mission and work of the Miss Sierra Leone in DC Organization (MSLDC Inc.); my childhood days growing up in Freetown; my passion for dance and my talent performance at the Miss Sierra Leone USA Pageant; my non-profit When You Believe Foundation Inc.; my academic life and future career plans; my vision for Sierra Leonean girls at home and part of the diaspora; and many more.

One of the great things about this show and many shows on SLBC is that viewers can send comments and questions via text messages during the show, and I received all positive and supportive messages. With the questions sent, I was able to let the viewers get to know more about me and all things dear to me.

Overall, I had a great time with my fellow panelists, as well as the show's production team! Being on the show was a perfect end to my very busy day. After the show, I headed to my grandmother's house and celebrated my interview and my day with loved ones. My awesome family and friends also flooded me with lots of calls and messages telling me of how proud they are of me. The sweet and encouraging messages received, as well as my personal reflection at the end of the day was really helpful in making me have a great sleep!
